MINERAL MONDAY: PYRITE
I’ve played hooky from mineral monday for a month now and I’ll be honest, I almost skipped it again after all your sale orders flooded in last week! BUT I decided to stay true to my intentions and honor my throat chakra — it is important to me to always say what I mean and mean what I say — and that includes follow up and actually meeting my deadlines even though I am my own boss.
That being said, here I am and here is your first mineral monday of 2020! I chose pyrite because I think everyone can use a little love to their fiery chakras in the colder months. This solar plexus activator is one of my favorites because it not only works to ground and center you in your lower chakras but it also is an attractor abundance. Not many stones work this double duty to ensure you are calm cool and collected before it presents you with opportunities and people that will nurture you and keep you on your true path.
Pyrite is an interesting stone because it is actually a metal. It is an iron sulfide mineral with crystal patterns that are most frequently cubic or octahedral. It gets its name from the Greek word for fire because a spark can be produced by striking two pieces of pyrite together. It was used by ancients as mirrors because of its smooth and high shine surface — I also like the notion that it might have been used as a mirror into the deeper self where you can identify what you need and therefore call it in to your life. Pyrite is most commonly known as “fool’s gold” for obvious reasons. It forms all over the world (even in Massachusetts) but the most notable specimens come from Spain (perfect cubes) and Peru (clusters).
Much like the boost of intention and vitality that carnelian provides the sacral chakra, pyrite comes in with a whoosh of high vibration life force that enhances personal power and the ability to accomplish the obstacles you’ll face on your path. It works to familiarize you with blockages, bad habits, and areas of lack so that you can establish healthy boundaries and patterns that will align you with where you want to be. Pyrite works to release anxiety and doubt, trying to nurture courage and a “can-do” attitude. It is a stone of manifestation in the sense that it helps formulate the vision and words to express exactly where you see yourself and inspires the action to get yourself there.
Pyrite has a powerful harmonizing energy that aligns the physical body with the spiritual. This is important in developing trust in yourself and trust that the universe has your back which will help build your confidence and willingness to take risks and make changes. It is important to remember that you are the only one who can truly undo your blockages, rework through trauma, and banish negative influence from your life and from your aura. This assertive and commanding effect comes from the masculine energy pyrite introduces. It is a great choice for those who are more rooted in the feminine because balance is essential.
Pyrite is a great stone for stimulating the elements of fire and earth. I think this contributes to the flow of creative energy and focused passion that it can inspire. It has been known to be particularly effective in the realms of art, mathematics, science, sculpture, architecture, and other disciplines that require both structure and creativity. Divine masculine energy holds space for and encourages the free will and emotional expression of the divine feminine and pyrite is doing just that.
key words: action | manifestation | vitality | confidence
when you might want some pyrite handy:
when you want to call in a little extra inspiration for manifesting your wildest dreams
if you need a boost of high frequency energy to your solar plexus
to release anxiety and doubt and replace it with confidence and a “can-do” attitude
if you find yourself stuck in divine feminine energy and need a little structure and support from the divine masculine
to make room for the abundance and opportunities you deserve!!!!
I like to address my collection regularly and see if anything jumps out at me — if something does then I like to take a moment to think about its properties (often I refer to my crystal books or even a quick google is helpful). When I am able to resonate with the properties of a stone that has caught my attention, I am in tune with its energy and it is in tune with mine. This practice also helps you grow your working knowledge of the stones!! There is so much to it and it is easy to get overwhelmed. If you take it day by day, crystal by crystal, it comes to you.
Thank you for tuning in to Mineral Monday! If you have any preferences on stones I should write about next or any general blog content you would like to see reach out to hello@thecypruscabinet.com!!
