MINERAL MONDAY: LABRADORITE
Time has felt more like a construct than it ever has before. It literally has no meaning and we have been isolating ourselves for nearly two months now. I have been longing for the big change and growth that early spring brings for me — not only with the plants and the weather, but my market season usually begins mid April and is busiest through July. It is wild to think that none of my markets and festivals will be happening and that for the first time in four years I might actually have an entire summer “off”!? Wow. What a wild time. Though I am actually terrified of what may happen to me and my business, I know that I am staying safe and I know the true depth of the support I get from my followers. Labradorite gets it name because it was first discovered near the Labrador peninsula in Canada and they believed the show of northern lights was captured eternally in the structure of this mineral. Labradorite is known for that flashy magic — greens, yellows, blues, sometimes purples capturing your attention and asking you to look deep. Look inside. Look for the source of the magic. It is in all of us, you just have to nurture it a bit. I call that magic intuition. It is our ability to “know” what we may not realize we know and it provides sparks and signals to guide us.
A gut feeling, butterflies, goosebumps, a sneaking suspicion — these are all signs that your intuition is trying to catch your attention. My favorite way to strengthen my intuition muscle is to follow all impulses (and write down the ones I can’t act on immediately) and see where my day or week takes me. It is a perfect time to practice during quarantine. Try to listen to and feel the urges and impulses that come from within. Thoughts and ideas that you may regard as not worthy? LET THEM IN! Strange food cravings or the desire to make something you never have? GO FOR IT! Try to quiet your ego and allow intuition to guide mind, body, and soul.
For me, labradorite has always represented dynamic growth and transformation. It inspires you to approach things differently and to identify what is or is not working to keep yourself growing — unblocked and inspired. When you look at this stone from some angles it is a dark green veiny stone with little magic but once you see that flash, you understand. It shows us the duality of light and dark and reminds us that in diving into the deep and the unknown and doing the work, we may emerge again a little closer to that magic we all have inside.
Labradorite has the ability to bring that magic to the surface, enhancing metaphysical abilities beyond just tapping into intuition. It offers psychic protection while you delve deep into meditation, inner work, your third eye, and the unseen realms. It encourages you to tap into your own energy system, your own inner workings to understand the connectedness you have to all things. Your individual path mirrors something much bigger than you. When you align yourself with this, opportunities and synchronicities will reveal themselves.
